Astraus

I found this band yesterday looking for underground bands to blog about. I dunno if it's just me but these guys sound like Periphery to me. I don't know much about that, but I wanna blog about them. They released an EP that I haven't gotten the chance to learn yet. The one I did hear was titled "Mirrors" and it reminds me very much of Periphery. Check it Out below.

League Of Legends:Warriors(Imagine Dragons)

Riot and Imagine Dragons teamed up to make a song and video for the 2014 World Championships. I like it and thought it was worth just bringing up in the blog. The video is pretty neat and shows the..I guess struggle or feelings in general of being competeitve and taking part in these Championships. It's really hard work, and this is slowly realized as a sport. People debate about it all the time, but I believe LoL and other games like WoW should be considered sports "E-Sports". The world is changing and the way we play sports and what's considered sports should and will grow as we as a people grow. So yeah, that's my two cent. Check out the video and song below.

Affiance: FIRE!

I've talked about Affiance already on this blog. But I wanted to talk about this SICK video they recently made for "FIRE!". And the new album I wanted to buy and review on this blog soon. But they're literally ON FIRE. I'm not sure how it's done, I think it's some kind of flame retardant oil or something. It's a pretty sick video and the song is pretty good too. Affiance is slowly becoming one of my favorite metalcore bands. They don't exactly sound like Protest The Hero but there are similarities and Dennis is such a sick vocalist. Check out the song and video below.

For All I Am:Update

I've already talked about on this blog. I'm just dicussing the fact that they have recently changed labels and the new album is coming pretty cool. They recently released a new single titled "Six Souls". The songs is pretty..well, it's for For All I Am and they're metalcore. The verses don't really stick out to me at all, the chrous is catchy and the breakdown at the end is..okay. The song is meh, tbh. It's missing something from the last album, I felt that way about the swallowed alive aswell. But this song is a step up from "Swallowed Alive" and the vocals are a step up as well, it shows the vocalist can at handle(in the studio) both harsh and cleans vocals. I'll see what it goes. Six Souls below, take a listen if you like Metalcore.

Kingdom Of Giants

Kingdom Of Giants is a metalcore recently signed to invouge records. Kingdom Of Giants are a pretty decent a band in my opinion. Kinda generic, but still listenable to me, because I'm a fan of metalcore music. The band recently played on Warped Tour and is now releasing their 2nd Full Length Album from Invouge Records. The Last Album was named "Every Wave Of Sound" and they band had lost a vocalist and the their lead has now picked up singing for the band. It's decent on the 1st album, but I predict that the cleans will be better on the upcoming album "Ground Culture. If you're into Metal-Core I'd suggest checking em out on Spotify or Youtube. The song below is from their new album. Enjoy

Within The Ruins

Within The Ruins is a progressive DeathCore band. I found out about them over the summer and I think they're pretty good. I'm listened to Invade, Elite and Phenomena. I have to say I like Elite the most and Phenomena is probably my second favorite album from them so far. Hopefully I can pick up both this weekend. The band is pretty good, the lyrics are typical on Elitle. But on Phoenea there is a concept based on Marvel and DC Comics, for example "Gods Among Men" is about Professor Xavier and Magneto having a back and force kinda debate and argument. It's pretty good and the song is pretty sick. There is a kinda "synth" or "electronics" on the guitars that goes throughout the entire album. I personally like it and think Within The Ruins pulls it off pretty well and not to much to the point the album feels fake or to electronic or anything. At least in my opinion. So yeah, check these guys out if you haven't already.

Shokran: Supreme Truth

Shokran is a progressive Deathcore band. I just recently learned about Shokran. Before I continue I'm going to start doing more underground and unsigned bands. Because I named this page underground for a reason. I'm starting with Shokran because I really haven't been into Metalcore that much. I'm really into Death and Progressive Metal nowadays. Shokran released an album titled "Supreme Truth" this year and it's nothing short of great. The best thing about it is:There is an instrumental version! (: It's filled with some pretty good riffage, singing and a pretty cool Egyptian theme throughout the album. That's all I really have to say about about Shokran. I'd have to say my favorite tracks are either Collapses or Ghost Ruins. Link to stream and buy album will be below. Consider buying the album filled with 15 songs of riffage, solos, djent and Egyptian theme badassery. Support the genre and musicians! Enjoy.

The Color Morale:Hold On Pain Ends:Review

I went out Friday and got the album from F.Y.E. I went home right away and popped in my computer. And honestly, the album isn't bad...but it's a huge disappointment, also I can't stand the lyrics on this album..it's all about cutting and scars and etc. Just so lame. Their lyrics were awesome on Know Hope because it talked about actually knowing hope, and turning negativity into something positive without being entirely emo about it. Sure some people need that, but it's annoying. Anyway enough of Know Hope, amazing album btw. Hold On Pain Ends is probably the lyrically the worst album out of TCM's 4 albums. For Example "

I know some days I wish I could just erase the past

but if I hide my wounds ashamed then you'd never know we’re the same.

Let my darkness illuminate take my hand and let me light your way.

Just keep the blood inside your veins." Just so lame to me. Lyrics are taken from "Developing Negative(Ft.Craig Owens) The music itself isn't to bad, it sounds a bit like Know Hope...with a bit more soft and emo. It sounds less Hardcore or Metalcore then ever. I think that's due to the lack of growls, which are still there probably because of the producer who worked on TCM with the album. Garett himself said he didn't really like the growls because you wouldn't scream at anyone that way in a real life situation. All the songs all the album at least try to be heavy...but when you listen to the lyrics...it's just takes from ALL of the impact of it all, in my honest opinion. I love The Color Morale, my favorite band in this genre. The album isn't a bad album, but every album before it is SO much better, when it comes to instruments and delivering a message. Overall, the album is just okay, it's decent. But if you're expecting another good Hardcore from the TCM then you'll be disappointed. I give it a 6/10. Honestly, if you haven't been a fan of TCM until today, it's probably won't be worth the listen to you. If you enjoy the lyrics then I suppose you'd rate it higher. Anyway, enjoy the song below.

The Word Alive: REAL Album Review

The Word Alive's album "REAL" was released today. I've only gotten through 5 songs and I have no complaints so far. The album is wonderful. Great production, Telle's screams have REALLY improved, the cleans are right on. The instruments are really a step up from the last album, the guitars are bit more interesting and Luke Holland(drummer) really got to show a bit more of his talent on this album if you ask me personally. The song "Never Forgot" is a pretty good tribute to Mitch Lucker and just anyone who's lost someone close to to them in general. This song really touched me, and it's really catchy and a bit more hardcore in certain parts of the song. I caught myself headbanging a bit more towards the beginning of the song. The Song "Glass Castle" is my favorite song so far on the album, next to "Never Forget" and "Fortune Teller". I seriously suggest checking this album out. If you're a fan of Of Mice & Men, BlessTheFall or Ice Nine Kills you'll enjoy this album. Enjoy the song below.

Beartooth: Disgusting Album Review

Beartooth's first full length "Disgusting" was released today. It's been a year since Beartooth released their EP "sick". In my opinion if you've been waiting, this album is worth the wait. The Album is full of energy, emotion, powerful messages, good lyrcis, catchy hooks and of course some pretty fun breakdowns and VERY good production due to the very talented Caleb Shomo(ex Attack Attack). The first song of the album starts off with Caleb..clearing his throat then going into a pretty extended fry scream and it gets pretty good from there shortly after there comes the catchy as hell chorus. The vocals are on this album are spot on. I feel like there's a lot of punk influence in these songs. If you've heard the EP for some reason the only song from it here is "I Have a Problem" which I fine because I really enjoyed that song and "Go Be The Voice". The first of the song starts thing off pretty damn good you'll headbanging and jamming to the catchy chorus all the way through this song and the entire album. The song has 12 songs on it. The songs that really stick out to me our "Beaten In Lips", "The Lines", "Dead", "Relapsing" and "One More". I suggest checking this album out, if you're a fun of Issues, Woe, Is Me or Memphis May Fire you'll enjoy this album. Check it out, enjoy the song below.

Pentakill

I don't know how plays in the band Pentakill, because it's a League Of Legends(Riot) made band. That's right, Riot paid musicians to make an 8 song album. But if I say myself, it's not bad at all. It's a metal band, power metal, though a few of the riffs like in song Deathfire Grasp are metalcoreish, but the chorus is Power Metal and I love it. I wasn't really expecting Pentakill to be as good as it is. But I'm really enjoying it. The Album is free, so I won't hurt to listen at all. Link will be below. I'd check it out.

Structures:Life Through A Window

Structures has released a new album "Life Through A Window". And straight to the point, i wasn't into it right away. But after a few listens it grew on me and I really started to enjoy it. I really like the songs "Buried", "Requiem and "The Worst Of Both Worlds". The new vocals weren't really doing it for me at first. I really felt like they lacked the punch and power of the last albums. But they grew on me and I appreciated what the new vocals DID bring to the plate this album. I really feel like these vocals have more of a hardcore feel to them, more emotion and that fit with the concepts and lyrics of most of the songs. Overrall, it's a solid listen and I reconmand checking it out if you're looking for something new. Though if you're expecting this album to be as crushing as the last album, you will disappointed, but the sexy riffing is still there to enjoy. Check em out.

The HAARP Machine

No point really in getting into how many members they have...because they have none. Apparently because the guitarist couldn't play this riffs live or I dunno. But I like the album they release. It's better fun, heavy. These guys made some good music before they broke up. Check it out.

For All I Am

For All I Am is a 4 piece Metalcore band from Chicago, IL. I've been listening these guys for about a year now and they're good, if you like what most of today's "Metal-Core" is and I do enjoy some of it. Their lyrics are inspiring, the breakdowns are heavy, the clean melody are cool and mellow it makes me think about everything at times...mainly when I'm not listening to it because I want to "that breakdown", lol. Their new single tho...it's meh, I personally think it's a step in the wrong direction compared to what was on the album "SkinWalker". "For All I Am" was a 5 piece band but they kicked their Vocalist/Guitar because of "musical differences". I think he bought a element to the band that I enjoyed. The new single "Swallowed Alive" isn't doing it for me...the vocals sound weaker all around, cleans and growls/screams, etc. I just think it's a step in the wrong direction, but who knows maybe they will surprise me and make me regret saying this. It could happen. Anyway, gonna put two songs below. Check em out.

Intervals

Intervals is a 4 piece Progressive Metal band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I've been listening to these guys since their EP and just recently heard "The Voice Within" and I gotta say, it's pretty amazing. Songs like "Automation" and "Moment Marauder" are pouring with feelings of nostalgia. Everything about this album is amazing. From vocals, instruments, mix and everything in between. Intervals isn't breaking any ground with being original, but they've taken common and uncommon elements to make a sound of their own. I was head banging and grooving through all 9 songs on the album. Check these guys out if you haven't. Their all instrumental EP is just as amazing. You won't regret checking these guys out. Enjoy the song below. (:

Dr.Acula

Decided to check out a band called Dr.Acula, not really a fan. They're mediocre at best, in my opinion of course. What do you guys think? They're 4 piece Deathcore band. After hearing the Salnder album I think they sound like Attila. But I have yet to listen to "NATION". Song below, enjoy or don't. I didn't enjoy it at all. Lol

Structures: The Worst of Both Worlds (Ft. Drew York)

Structures released a new single called "The Worst Of Both Worlds". It sounds pretty tight to me, if you haven't heard they have a new vocals and he fits with the band. Check it out.

Periphery:Clear

This blog is pretty late, but, here it is. Periphery released their EP "clear". The EP isn't a replacement for their new album coming this year or the next called "Juggernaut". This EP was a way for the members from Periphery to each write, direct and play their own song. So keeping that in mind, there is a song from each member, so it isn't what you usually hear from Periphery, expect Misha's song "Zero". The EP is great, it's different, it's heavy, it's poppy, like I said it's different. Song Below, enjoy..ya, this is a little short, but I'm not feeling very motivated about this EP anymore. It was good, but nothing I'd listen for hours on end like Periphery and Periphery II. So enjoy, or not.

Animals As Leaders:The Joy Of Motion

AAL's new album is finally out on iTunes, PlayStore and Spotify...and bunch of our stores I'd guess Fye or Best Buy. Not sure if Hot Topic sells any metal, mostly FIR, BvB, Post-Hardcore etc, at least in my stores..anyway. It's Out, It's Amazing, It's Technical, It's Djent, It's Funky, It's Groovy, it's everything you'd expect from AAL and more. I personally feel like this album has so much more soul then the last album, my favorite song so far would be Para Mexer or Physical Education, the whole album is freaking great, but I find myself repeating those two songs over and over. I don't have time for a full review or anything along those lines, but this album is gold, you won't regret it. If you aren't listening to AAL already, get on it, these guys are sick. Tosin and Javier are totally geniuses. Also Check Out Metis! Songs below, enjoy.~

Elenora: Said The Sapling To The Sun

I haven't covered Elenora, here, and I'm not sure why. So I'll do it now: Elenora is a 6 piece Melodic Hardcore band, and they're pretty good in this genre if you ask me. These guys come from Oregon. Like any Melodic Hardcore Band, these have some pretty catchy melodies, and the hardcore parts and hardcore, and to be honest, the screams on their newest screams would probably some of the worst I've ever heard if it didn't fit with the clean vocalist so well. The cleans are damn good, they're powerful, they have emotion and in my opinion, they aren't to high or anything like that. The vocals in this band are great. The instruments are what you'd expect from a band in this genre, Elenora pulls it off well, they also add keyboard intros and in other parts of their songs for extra melody and emotion. I Elenora does this well. I really feel like keyboards add a LOT of emotion to songs, it really help set a certain mood with the rest of the instruments if done right. That doesn't go without saying the usual Instruments aren't fully capable of doing that themselves. I wanna go on about the song, but I don't feel like it anymore. It's an improvement for the band,  Check it out below.

Rise Records:Dropped The Color Morale?

So last week I was scrolling through facebook and Rise Records posted that Miss May I was releasing a new album soon and hinted at a new signing, that's good news...but then I scrolled down to see what everyone's guesses were on which band was recording a new album. People were guessing at Crown The Empire and The Color Morale...then Rise commented "TCM isn't with us anymore" or something along those lines. I was pretty shocked at that. I always thought of TCM as a VERY underrated band. I mean, they make great music, they're great live, they have a wonderful message, which is what makes them my favorite Hardcore Band,  ever, the lyrics, everything. I guess maybe they didn't have enough album sells? Sucks. I could go on a whole rant about how stupid that is, but it doesn't matter. TCM is on the new Punk Goes 90's album, I'm looking forward to the track. I wish them luck, I'd hate for them to stop making music and spreading their message. The New Miss May I's song is pretty decent, video below.

Ice Nine Kills

Ice Nine Kills is a pretty new Metalcore band, their name came has been coming up a few places. They're pretty okay, they have some pretty good melodies for a Metalcore band. They switch between Cleans and Vocals pretty often, not just verse, chorus, verse, they switch often, and they do it pretty well. Their lyrcis have to do with sex, evil women and "we are the walking dead!", so their lyrics are pretty fun, nothing to serious. They've been on tours with Like Moths To Flames and a few others. They're now on tour with I See Stars, Attila, Capture The Crown and more. Though, I find these guys barely listenable, I'm sure someone will like them...or not. Video Below, enjoy or not, don't care. This is a filler blog.

Veil Of Maya

Today I'm gonna spend a little time talking about "Veil Of Maya". Now to be completely honest, I haven't heard a lot of their songs, nor do I know any of the members in this band besides Marc. The songs that come to mind from this band, that I think are worth listening to are "Vicious Circles", "Unbreakable", "Entry Level Exit Wounds" and "Mowgli". The band is signed to Sumerian Records and recently released a new single called "Subject Zero" which kinda sucked in my opinion. Check out the few songs listed besides them, I dunno if anything else they've released is anything good.

Periphery:Clear - Feed The Ground

Periphery is my favorite band in the entire world(minus The Color Morale) and while I was listening to Music Choice's Metal Channel because I barely watch TV anymore. I was on my laptop playing Tera, but I REALLY enjoyed the song, but I was to busy to look up from my laptop. So when when screams and vocals finally hit me, I was like "Periphery!?! Feed The Ground is Matt's song, and in my opinion it's a pretty structured song. Tho I enjoyed it....I don't really have much to say about it because it's only being shown on Music Choice and it isn't released on Youtube or Spotify as a single. So I've only heard it ONCE, and that isn't enough to take the entire song in. But I did enjoy, and wish I could link a video. But if you have comcast, tune into the metal channel, you might catch the song.

Oh Sleeper

Oh Sleeper is a 5 piece Metalcore band from Texas. If these guys aren't a christian band, then I don't know what IS, seriously, these guys love "God" and I say that because a lot of their lyrics talk about him, or talk in his name, for example "The Finisher".  Anyway, these guys are among the few good metalcore bands around. If you like Parkway Drive, As I Lay Dying or The Devil Wears Prada, you'll enjoy these guys, trust me. The rough vocals are fry vocals/yelling and in the choruses have clean vocals(this is metalcore) but there are usually unclean vox in the chorus aswell, and it's done perfectly. Riffs are pretty good. I really like the main riff in "Childern Of Fire". I'd check these guys out, solid metalcore band. Don't let the fact that they're a Christian Metal band kill it for you, these guys are pretty good. Enjoy The Song~

In Fear And Faith

In Fear And Faith is simply amazing. I've been listening to these guys since 2007. I have no idea why it's taken me so long these guys in my blog. Better late then never. (: Anyway, In Fear And Faith is a post-hardcore band signed to Rise Records...now I know what you're thinking, but they aren't your typical rise band, they're so unrated...not even sure if they're still on rise records at this point..but off topic. I'm going to tell why these guys are amazing, they mix hardcore, beautiful clean melodies, usually with piano backing it, which even more adds to the beautiful sound, their riffs are great, the drummers are never boring in my opinion. My ONLY complaint that I have is the cleans can be a bit annoying because of high pitched they are, still, it doesn't stop me from enjoying the melody or everything else going on an each of their songs. These guys are not you typical hardcore breakdown band, nor your typical "risecore" band. The two vocalists, both deliver their  parts pretty great, the lyrics are pretty decent pretty good too. Lyrics can really decide if i listen to a song or band sometimes..though..I listen to Attila, so like I said, "sometimes". I seriously suggest checking out the song "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions", "Counselor", "Taste Of Regret", you know what, they have SO many good songs, I'd check them out on Spotify, the EP Symphonies is good, but either "Imperial" or  "Your World Of Fire" would be a good place to start. Check em out, you won't regret it! Whoops, just found out that this band isn't even active anymore and a lot of people have left them, that sucks, still check them out. ):
